Sandy, Hank and Mikey & Jamie (their two Westies) await your visit to their relaxing and elegant bed & breakfast on the Chesapeake Bay. A new addition to Rock Hall, there’s a magic here that harks back to an era when passenger and freight boats plied the Bay, and where visitors enjoyed their vacations in the many summer homes located on this tree lined street.

Whether you are arriving by sail or powerboat, visiting someone with a boat, or just looking for somewhere to unwind and relax, the old Gratitude House is your home away from home.

Enjoy a good book, or simply relax in the sun on the large deck that looks out on the Bay, or in one of the comfortable Adirondack chairs right at the water’s edge. Watch the sail and power boats as they leave Swan Creek in the morning and return at the end of the day. Baltimore ’s Key Bridge is visible to the West, and the Bay Bridge can be seen to the South. It is here that you can enjoy a lifestyle reminiscent of Gratitude’s fabled past.
Originally built in a Victorian style about 1890 in a village called Gratitude, this private home was expanded in 1999 and modernized in 2005, to create one of the finest bed & breakfasts in the area. Four beautifully decorated comfortable guest rooms and suites, with private decks facing onto the Chesapeake Bay, en suite bathrooms, cable/DVD TVs and high speed wireless Internet access await you. The Old Gratitude House takes full advantage of the soothing water's edge, while also offering access to a variety of activities that will keep you busy.
Start the day with a full gourmet breakfast on the large deck looking out on the Bay. Then take advantage of the free kayaks to explore nearby Tavern and Swan Creek, borrow a bike and visit the Waterman's, Rock Hall and Tolchester Revisited Museums, take the Green Trolley to explore Rock Hall's downtown, or drive to the Eastern Neck National Wildlife Refuge (only 15 minutes away). Fishing charters, and sail and powerboat cruises are also available. Enjoy dinner at one of the many great restaurants in the area, and return at the end of the day to relax outside on the Gratitude House's deck or lawn to enjoy a breathtaking sunset to the sound of the 1812 Overture.

We look forward to making your visit a special one!
